Metal Mouth Prints

Aluminum Metal Prints

Metal prints are a rapidly expanding art medium that boasts vibrant, brilliant colors and detail that is unsurpassed. Through a process called dye-sublimation, the print is infused (transferred) directly to a sheet of coated aluminum via heat and pressure. Metal Mouth Prints offers a wide range shapes and sizes as well as a variety of finishes including white glossy, semi-gloss, matte, and clear options for glossy and matte.

We use only the highest quality Chromaluxe aluminum panels that are .045 inches thick with the highest quality coating available in the industry. Chromaluxe Aluminum Prints are not just the industry leader they are the yardstick all Metal Prints are measured by! Chromaluxe aluminum panels are made in the USA and are 100% recyclable.

The final prints are scratch resistant, water resistant, heat resistant and more.

Water resistance makes for a great print that can be placed in bathrooms and spas with high humidity levels. Finally you can place a piece of art in a master bath without worry of it getting destroyed by water and humidity.

Grease and food proof allows you to place a print right next to the stove in your kitchen or restaurant without it getting ruined by the splatter of grease and food. Just use a household or industrial degreaser and the print cleans right off. Just think, you can have a picture of the kids right there at the stove top without worry that it will be destroyed by grease and food splatter.

A metal print makes for a great addition to a home or office that only compares to a facemount acrylic print but much more!

Chromaluxe Metal prints have been tested for fade resistance and have been found to outlast photo papers by 2-4 times.

Metal Prints are an excellent option for the artist, photographer, interior decorator, and others who offer art or photographs for home and office decor!

FMK Prints (Face Mount Killer)

An FMK print is nothing short of gorgeous! You will find with certain images that you just cant stop looking at it. It will make your best print look its absolute best, framed or floated from the wall! It is the closest we have to the world acclaimed Peter Lik look. You will find that certain landscape prints now have a dynamic look that cannot be duplicated.

So, why does FMK stand for "Face Mount Killer"? We truly believe that once you have experienced the difference between face mounting your print to the back of a sheet of acrylic and an FMK print you will not want to go back. Both types of prints are not cheap. So, if you are looking for a less expensive option than this is not going to be it. But, what you will find is that the FMK print does not become a dust magnet, will not easily scratch, is heat resistant, does not require special care by cleaning people, is water resistant and mostly- is dramatically eye catching!

FMK is an option you will need to choose when ordering your Aluminum Metal Prints. It is not available on all sizes. And, due to the fact that it is a 100% hand made process your order will take a few days longer to complete.

FMK is an exclusive product created and made only by Metal Mouth Prints!

I am not certain if my print will look good in metal?

Email us a low res version of the image and we will give you our insight. But you can use the following tips to get a better idea of what makes a great metal print:

  • High resolution 300 dpi or better at the size print you desire.
  • High saturation or contrast.
  • Good sharpness.

How do I take care of my print?

With cotton gloves or powder free rubber gloves on your hands you can clean your print with a Micro Fiber cloth by itself or with window cleaner, LCD panel cleaner, Simple Green etc. If there is a stubborn sticky stain you can use a product like Goof Off.

For hanging make certain you use a sturdy hanging system although, aluminum metal prints do not weigh very much.

Even though the surface of the print is mostly scratch resistant the edges and corners can either ding or chip. So, don’t drop your print or bank it around.

I am an artist, can I sign my metal prints?

Yes! Even though you can use a sharpie we suggest that you use a paint pen to sign both the front and back.

If desired a laser engraving of your signature, logo, title or print number can be placed on the face of the print. Please contact us directly for pricing.

For those that want a logo or signature block on the back please get in touch with us directly.

Metal Mouth Prints is owned and operated by Ben Gasser an avid photographer from the Metropolitan Kansas City area. Home of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.Ben’s passion in printing started shortly after he began printing inkjet prints with an Canon desktop printer. Never satisfied with the results provided by the manufacturers canned drivers and ICC profiles Ben set out to learn how to create his own profiles. Since that time he has almost always created his own profiles using Greytag or XRite equipment.

While operating his IT support company out of Hotz Business Solutions Ben started to become familiar with large format printers and eventually became an Epson Professional Graphics dealer. While being a dealer was not a profitable venture he started to work with some used Epson’s and learning more about how they worked. Because of the dealer arrangement Ben also started to become familiar with various papers and canvas products.

Approximately 4 years ago Ben started getting involved with experimenting with Dye sublimation. Ben never wanting to do what everyone else was doing he started to look at different types of media that his photos could be printed on. He came across a method from Dupont on how to sublimate Corian countertop surfaces. This led Ben and a friend to experiment with how to actually start a business printing on Corian. Due to technical difficulties with the Corian material that process/business did not work out. As that venture faded Ben started to see in trade publications the availability of Aluminum prints from various vendors. So, Ben started his quest to become a premium print provider of Aluminum prints.

After showing his prints to many photographers in the Kansas City area and to Artists in ComicCon world Ben started to become more comfortable with his process. During the development of his proprietary process Ben always had certain benchmarks he wanted to attain. One of those benchmarks was to match prints he was obtaining from Epson Premium Luster Paper. Today when a photographer or Artist provides a file from a color managed system he is able to provide a match in almost 95% of the time.

Looking at other hanging methods in the market of Metal Prints Ben was not satisfied. Ben started offering Gator Board as an optional mount with a wire across the back. Still looking for something more unique Ben and Bryan Azorsky came up with a Patent Pending magnetic mount that is sold by Tin Man Prints.

Always impressed by Peter Lik’s ability to create attention grabbing face mounted prints Ben set out to create a print that had a close resemblance to a face mounted print. And the FMK treatment was born. FMK being an acronym for “Face Mount Killer” is a metal print that appears to be thicker and much sturdier. Many photographers familiar with face mounted prints have actually thought that the FMK print was exactly that. The FMK print is stronger, much more scratch resistant, water proof and weather proof in locations that are not in direct sunlight. With a frame around an FMK print you may feel like you are looking at a Peter Lik type of print.

Metal prints are available in basically four surfaces: White Gloss, White Matte, Clear Gloss and Clear Matte. Most customers of clear metal prints from other vendors are disappointed by the results they receive but customers of Metal Mouth Prints are blown away by the saturation and vibrancy. If ordering Clear Glossy, Clear Matte or White Matte prints be aware that they are not available in sizes above 16×20.

Along with metal prints Metal Mouth Prints does fine art printing on Hahnemuhle Metalic Canvas and Chromaroll metallic media. Order a Metal Print from Metal Mouth Prints and get a print you will be proud to share.
